Greyhound of the Month

January Greyhound of the Month

LITTLE MOTHER

The January Greyhound of the Month title has gone to the Brendon Cole trained Little Mother, who really came of age with some tremendous times clocked during the calendar period.
The daughter of Big Daddy Cool and the good quality producing Zilla (Fortified Rush x Tammy Lezah) has always shown ability but really illustrated just what she's capable of during the month.
After winning her heat for the Waikato Classic in the fastest time of the day, she entered January with a somewhat unlucky 4th behind Fifth Edition in the rich Final before bouncing back to winning form in the EJ Wing Memorial at Wanganui in 30.02s. The following week, Little Mother then went close behind litter brother Gone Zilla on the same track.
The Gordon Sciberras owned chaser then trekked away to Auckland for her first race there before the prestigious Auckland Cup series and she really set tongue's wagging with a slashing 30.07s gallop. She backed that run up and rounded the month off with another terrific effort, this time in the Wellington Cup, producing a sizzling 29.59s over the 520m at Wanganui.
To add to her future versatility, she has won both starts over more ground by 8-½ and 12-½ lengths respectively.
Honourable mention must also go to her kennelmate Hifi Allegro who won all 5 sprint attempts during January and we must also give some credit to Fifth Edition who won the richest race during that period - the Waikato Classic.
