Preview: Wanganui NZ Racing Series Distance Final 17th March 2017
Coming up on Friday 17 March we have the running of the NZ Racing Series Final worth $11,000 in stakes and featuring amongst others, 2016 Distance Greyhound of the Year - Shandell, pictured here after winning the 2016 Group 2 Wanganui Stayers final.
#3 Shandell – She is getting on in age but she is very classy and can pick up another feature race. She has an awesome record at this track and distance (over 755m) with 7 starts for 5 wins and 2 seconds. Two starts ago she ran a nice second from box 5 at Cambridge Raceway (over 650m) where she got fair away and started to get into the race around the home turn. If she brings this form to the races she will win this hands down. The extra distance suits.
Check out her run at Cambridge Raceway by clicking here.
#7 Thrilling Flo – She is a distance runner in the making, and is capable of placing in this field but it is whether the 755m could be too far for her. She is a very keen dog on the lure, so if she gets a nice out, stays out of trouble and can get to the lead around the home turn the then she could upset this field.
Please click here to see what she did last start over 650m at Cambridge Raceway.
#1 Augello – This is the dog to watch out for. He can be slow away but with the lure being loud at Wanganui he could even pick the jump and get a nice clean run into the first bend. He looks like he can run all day.
This is what he did 5 starts ago over 650m at Cambridge Raceway from box 6, please click here.
#5 Translator – He has a lot of ability but he needs to jump here and he doesn’t want to be caught up in traffic. He will run his line to the first bend but just needs to stay out of trouble. He will be in the top 4.
Please click here to see what he did last start from box 5 at Addington Raceway over 645m.
Here is my suggested first 4 bet: 3,7,1,5
